Long trip ahead of her

Andi left Texas about an hour and a half ago. She’s got a long drive ahead of her. I don’t envy her at all. That is a long, hellish trip, especially with her being 6 1/2 months pregnant and having 2 young boys to deal with. The boys pretty much behave but at times they can drive you crazy. I know this because hubby and I made the trip to Texas in January to take the boys down to her.

There’s not much to do on a long trip like that except to read nuphedra reviews, look at the scenery (how many cows and horses can you stand to look at in one trip?) and nap.

She doesn’t know what time she’ll stop for the night or exactly when she’ll arrive but I can’t wait to see her again!

Ugh

After our trip I feel like I need to get all the junk food out of my system. We stopped and ate at McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy’s, Hardee’s, etc. I don’t quite need to use Orovo detox, but it’s close.

I went to the store and bought some yogurt and other healthy things to eat. I don’t even want to look at another burger or fries right now.

We got lucky and the rest areas were nice and clean on this trip. The last trip we ran into a couple of really nasty, dirty rest area bathrooms.

Now it’s time to get all the dirty laundry done from the trip. That is the part I hate the most!

Long trip home

icy-road-signA trip home from Texas that should have taken us 2 days took 3 days instead. The weather, from the time we left Texas, was horrible. We hit fog and rain for most of the trip. We ended up having to stop before we wanted to because the fog was so bad on Monday night.

On Tuesday evening, just as it got dark, we stopped early again. The rain and fog in Virginia was terrible. All we had was about 6 hours to go. When we got up the next morning and started driving it was still foggy but at least it was daylight. Several miles up I95 we started seeing ice on the trees and off to the side of the road. Cars were covered in ice and snow. That is so dangerous.. we kept seeing ice and snow flying off of cars and trucks as they flew along over the speed limit. I’m surprised that there were no accidents because of the flying ice. Someone, for sure, would have been calling a Seattle injury lawyer.

As we went over different bridges ice was falling down on cars from above. The speed limit was reduced to 25 mph on the Delaware Memorial Bridge and cars were playing dodge the falling ice.

It was not a fun trip home!

Watching the weather

We’re watching the weather and are hoping that we don’t encounter and really bad weather on our trip to Texas this weekend. The tires on the car are in good shape but that won’t help if other people on the road don’t behave themselves and pay attention to the conditions. We’ll just have to pay attention and hope the digital signage on the interstates keep us informed of the road conditions.

Keep your fingers Xed for us and hope we have a nice uneventful trip!

Another Texas trip coming up

This weekend we are taking another trip to Texas. This time it’s to take the grandsons down to their mom. We won’t need any vacation rentals because we won’t be staying all that long. It will probably be a 4 or 5 day trip total.

It’s a good thing my car has a large trunk. It’s been said that this trunk can hold 8 fully loaded golf bags.. not that we play golf. The boys have a lot of stuff to bring with them plus I have some stuff to take to Andi and to our oldest son, who lives up near Dallas.
