What was that all about?

I had to go out this morning. I had to head to WaWa to get some bread. The traffic was fairly light, for a change, until I got close to a wholesale company. The traffic got very heavy… actually it was just about stopped.

There were a lot of police and fire vehicles going into the lot. I didn’t see any smoke or flames. I went on to the store and when I came back all the police and fire vehicles were gone. It had only been about 5 minutes. I’m guessing it was some kind of false alarm.

Memorial Day Weekend

180px-americanflagsTraffic in Southern NJ has doubled this weekend. People have come “down the shore” for the Memorial Day weekend. This weekend marks the beginning of summer. They come from all over with their suitcases, wallets full of money and their bcbsnc cards, licenses, etc.

Every heads to the beach, boardwalk, casinos, barbecues and visits with family and friends. I’d rather sit at home enjoying the peace and quiet than having to deal with all of the weekend people. I don’t go to the beach. I hate the sand and the salt. If we lived in a single family home we could have a nice, little barbecue. But I live in a condo and barbecuing is out of the question.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Remember our fallen troops, veterans and those currently serving our country. They have put their lives on the line for us. The least we can do is remember and thank them for all they do for us.

Yet another trip post

I was pleasantly surprised at how many people on the interstates moved over when there was a disabled car, vehicle stopped by an officer, etc on the side of the road. Just last November you didn’t see that very often. Some states now have laws that you must move over or slow down when passing a vehicle on the side of the road.

We saw one small car on the side of the road that was disabled and the man who was driving it didn’t look like he would fit in that car. It wasn’t that he needed Ephadrasil hardcore.. he was just really tall (well over 6 ft) and stocky (not fat). His front see must have been back as far as it could go or modified to go back even farther.

Today on the news a Pennsylvania officer was seriously injured while he was on a traffic stop. Two cars coming up on the stop crashed and hit the patrol car trapping the officer beneath it. He is in very critical condition. UPDATE: The news just broke into a tv program… the officer died.

People please slow down or move over when you see a traffic stop on the side of the road.

Soaked

Thursday was a rainy day here in Atlantic County. In fact we had almost 5 inches of rain that day into Friday morning. It would have been the perfect day to spend curled up in your home theater seating and watch movies all day but I had to work.

The traffic was hell on the parkway coming home from work on Thursday. People were doing 40 miles an hour and 1 person was in the passing lane doing the same and would not move over into the slow lane at all. I hate people that do that. It wasn’t even raining hard at the time.. it was just drizzling then. By the time I got home it had started pouring again and I got soaked just trying to get from my car into my building.

Back to school

Kids in Absecon went back to school today. I knew that because the traffic on my way to work this morning was heavier than usual with several stops because of school buses packed with kids. I saw kids walking to the buses with their shiny new clothes and backpacks full of pens, notebooks and other school supplies.

On Pitney Road the yellow flashing light, indicating a school zone, was working after the summer rest. Traffic slowed to 25 mph. All this brought me back to when my kids went back to school after a long summer off. I saw parents wiping away tears. Me? I was always the one jumping for joy!
