Long trip ahead of her

Andi left Texas about an hour and a half ago. She’s got a long drive ahead of her. I don’t envy her at all. That is a long, hellish trip, especially with her being 6 1/2 months pregnant and having 2 young boys to deal with. The boys pretty much behave but at times they can drive you crazy. I know this because hubby and I made the trip to Texas in January to take the boys down to her.

There’s not much to do on a long trip like that except to read nuphedra reviews, look at the scenery (how many cows and horses can you stand to look at in one trip?) and nap.

She doesn’t know what time she’ll stop for the night or exactly when she’ll arrive but I can’t wait to see her again!

Watching the weather

We’re watching the weather and are hoping that we don’t encounter and really bad weather on our trip to Texas this weekend. The tires on the car are in good shape but that won’t help if other people on the road don’t behave themselves and pay attention to the conditions. We’ll just have to pay attention and hope the digital signage on the interstates keep us informed of the road conditions.

Keep your fingers Xed for us and hope we have a nice uneventful trip!

Another Texas trip coming up

This weekend we are taking another trip to Texas. This time it’s to take the grandsons down to their mom. We won’t need any vacation rentals because we won’t be staying all that long. It will probably be a 4 or 5 day trip total.

It’s a good thing my car has a large trunk. It’s been said that this trunk can hold 8 fully loaded golf bags.. not that we play golf. The boys have a lot of stuff to bring with them plus I have some stuff to take to Andi and to our oldest son, who lives up near Dallas.

Ike Flooding

I work for Spirit Halloween and because of Hurricane Ike last month a few stores were damaged by the flooding Ike caused. One store in Texas has closed and will not reopen because the damage was too extensive. Another store in Florissant, MO was flooded and has reopened.

The rain came down like someone turned on the faucets or more like fire hoses. 8 inches of water along with mud and other debris covered the floor in our store in Missouri. It took quite a bit of cleanup and new merchandise to get the store open again.

Rough hurricane season

This year has been a very rough hurricane season. Hurricanes just keep forming out in the Atlantic and don’t seem to want to stop. I wonder if this is impacting the Caribbean cruises business?

We’ve had Gustav who hit Louisiana, and Hanna who hit the Carolinas and came up the east coast yesterday and Ike who is poised to hit Louisiana or Texas. Josephine never made it to hurricane strength and is gone now. I wonder just how many more storms will form before the end of the hurricane season in November?
