When I was a teenager my father wanted a pool table. My mother gave in and got him one but the only place they could put it was in the dining room. So they got rid of the dining room table and put the pool table there. They kept the dining room chairs and at holidays put the ping pong table board on top, covered it with a table cloth and we all sat around the pool table.
That reminded of the old TV Show Beverly Hillbillies.. except they sat round the pool table and called it the fancy eating table.
At Christmas we had a train platform set up on top of the pool table too. I guess you could have called it a multi-function table.

I’ve spent a lot of hours in airports waiting for flights. When I went to Texas for my oldest’s wedding I spent over 7 hours waiting for my flight home. We got on the plane at one time and taxied out only to sit and wait for about an hour or so then turned around and went back to the terminal to wait. There were severe thunderstorms to the east. When I got back to Philadelphia I couldn’t take the train home because the tracks to 30th Street Station were flooded and the train wasn’t running. My daughter and her then husband (now ex) came and picked me up from Philadelphia.
I had gotten to Dallas airport in the morning. I got home about 1 am. That was a long day!
I wasn’t alone sitting in that airport for hours and hours. Plenty of other people were waiting too. Some were reading books, napping, eating, reading diet pill reviews in magazines and just wandering around aimlessly.
It was bad enough sitting for that long I’d hate to be stuck in an airport for days. I’ve heard horror stories of people stuck in airports for days because of snow, ice and other problems. Once I thought I was going to be stuck in Frankfurt, Germany airport because they were having problems with the plane. I got lucky and they got it fixed and I made it home.
