A day or so before Christmas there was a fire in a home in a nearby town. They lost everything.. their Christmas presents, their LCD TV, clothes, food and even their pet cat perished from smoke inhalation.
They found out the cause was electrical and thank goodness no human lives were lost. I feel bad about the cat though.
Fire is the one thing I worry about the most. It’s a scary and devastating thing to have to live through.

When hubby and I travel we do get discounts. These discounts come because we’re old! *kidding* We do happen to have AARP membership cards. A lot of people think that because you belong to AARP that you’re old. I even thought that way for awhile but having that card can get you discounts at motels/hotels when you travel.
You can save anywhere from 10% to 25% on motel/hotel rates. That card helped us out nicely on our trip to Texas last year. You can also get good savings on rental cars too. If you are 50 or about to turn 50 then you should look into AARP and start saving!

All across the country, on Friday, travel just about came to a standstill. I know this because one of Visual Merchandisers was about to return home to Chicago and his flight was delayed. There were many, many flights canceled. There were a lot of big ice and snowstorms all across the country. They even had snow in Las Vegas! Shoveling snow is a good way to lose weight and you won’t need to take a diet pill.
I wonder if he ever made it home. He was going there to spend Christmas with his family and pack up his stuff to move here in NJ. We escaped the snow and ice here in Southern NJ and ended up with just a very cold rain although we did have some freezing rain early this morning. With the temps being up to 35 now there is no ice left.

Thursday was a rainy day here in Atlantic County. In fact we had almost 5 inches of rain that day into Friday morning. It would have been the perfect day to spend curled up in your home theater seating and watch movies all day but I had to work.
The traffic was hell on the parkway coming home from work on Thursday. People were doing 40 miles an hour and 1 person was in the passing lane doing the same and would not move over into the slow lane at all. I hate people that do that. It wasn’t even raining hard at the time.. it was just drizzling then. By the time I got home it had started pouring again and I got soaked just trying to get from my car into my building.
