I have a laptop whose hard drive quit. I don’t know if I should try and get it fixed, get a new hard drive or just send the laptop to a recycling center. When the laptop is turned on it tells me there is no hard drive detected so I am assuming the hard drive got fried somehow. Right now it’s in a drawer in the second bedroom collecting dust.
I know that Goodwill has a computer recycling program. I’ll look into that and decide what I want to do with it.
I work for a company that opens up temporary Halloween stores each year. We just finished setting up all of the utilities for the stores. This year we have over 600 across the country and in Canada. Each year, when they close down the stores, all of their equipment and left over stock goes into moving pods and are stored until the next season.
It’s a lot of hard work to orchestrate, set up, staff, stock and close down these stores every year. It’s a lot of aggravation too. I must be crazy because this is my 3rd year at this company. If it wasn’t for the great bunch of people I work with I probably would have not gone back for the 2nd year.
Chattanooga, TN firefighters rescued several cats during a house fire that investigators say was probably caused by the cats. The fire appears to be accidental and most likely from a cat knocking over an unattended candle in the kitchen and not because of unattended fire pits.
Fire department spokesman said firefighters responded to an alarm and found a fire in the kitchen. No one was home but they found about 10 cats inside.
Some of the cats escaped but some showed signs of smoke inhalation. Firefighters used oxygen bottles and special masks to revive several of the cats.
I was reading an article that says the need for cowboy or Western saddles is shrinking as show jumping rises in popularity. Show jumpers use english saddles which are quite different from the Western saddles. They are smaller and lighter than their Western counterparts. The major differences between the Western and the English saddle are the horn, the much deeper seat, and the longer stirrups of the Western saddle.
Most English saddles are made in Europe and imported to the U.S. The majority of Western saddles are made in the US. Other countries include Germany, Australia, Brazil, Belgium and Canada.
I came across a list of drugs that are said to be related to suicides. I’m glad I stopped taking Chantix because the FDA is investigating whether the smoking cessation drug triggers psychiatric symptoms. I never felt that way, but it did make me very nauseous.
Other drugs on that list are:
Accutane – which is used for acne treatments carries a warning that it may cause suicidal thoughts and behavior in rare cases.
All anti-depressants – Drugs such as Prozac, Paxil, Wellbutrin and Zoloft carry required warnings that the medications can increase suicidal thinking and behavior in some children, adolescents and young adults.
Anti-convulsives – Drugs such as Depakote, Lyrica and Neurontin are used to treat seizures and other conditions. A recent FDA analysis found a small increased risk of suicidal thinking and behavior. An advisory panel recommended against applying the agency’s strongest warning to the drugs.
Singulair – The FDA is investigating whether the drug for asthma and allergies can cause suicidal thoughts.
