While I’m talking about seashore places to visit, there is a place in Texas that we didn’t get to see while we were there. We were almost close enough to it while we were in San Antonio. It would have been nice to get further south and check out some North Padre Island rentals. Maybe the next trip we can do that.
Once you get inside the Padre Island National Seashore, after you pay the entrance fee of $10 per vehicle per week, camping on the beach is free. You are allowed to gather wood and campfires are allowed. You are allowed to collect shells and other beach debris. You can enjoy fishing - either in the sea or the lagoon on the west side, but you have to have a Texas state license. Activities in the dunes and grasslands are restricted, to protect the wildlife that lives there and prevent erosion.
