Backroads Travel

» by User Imagecharlotte in: Uncategorized

Sometimes it’s nice to take a road trip and get off the interstates. Taking a different route to your destination can be relaxing and gives you a chance to see some sights instead of just open roads. We used to go to Florida before I95 was all the way through. We would be on US301 or US17 and there would be all these souvenir places and discount furniture stores.

The traffic was less hectic and you had a lot more chances to stop and to shop. There were always more touristy places to stop and buy trinkets and souvenirs, places to eat… little diners and cheaper gas and motels. I kind of miss the older routes to go places. Since all the interstates sprung up it forced the little guys out of business because all of the traffic went to the interstates instead of the back roads.
