Yesterday I mentioned that it’s been so dry that the grass crunches underfoot. Well sometime during the night it started raining and has been raining off and on all day. The grass is greening up again and you can almost hear it breathing a big sigh of relief. I guess Mother Nature read my blog and decided to give us the moisture we so desperately need.
Thanks “Mom”!!

We would love to have a family reunion but last year my sister-in-law passed away from cancer and she was the one who has hosted the reunion for the past several years. There isn’t one planned for this year.
I was checking out places where everyone in the family could go and be all in one place and I found a site that has Outer Banks vacation rentals. Carolina Designs has several vacation homes to choose from along the Outer Banks.
There is plenty of room in this house for everyone. The house has 2 king sized beds, 1 queen sized bed, 2 twin beds, a bunk bed and a futon. There are 4 full bathrooms and a half bath. There are plenty of places for the family to crash. This place even has it’s own pool and is in a quiet place.. although it might not be too quiet after the Muskett family comes to play.
There is a great view of the ocean, volleyball to play, a game room with a sports bar (a Muskett man’s dream!). I can just see the women lounging in the hot tub while the men are grilling up some nice juicy steaks. If the kids get bored with the pool there are 10 TVs in this house along with 3 VCRs, 2 DVD players and an XBox. We wouldn’t even have to bring movies to watch because the house comes with a video library too. We can even bring our laptops because it has free high speed internet but with all there is to do there the laptops might just sit idle for the duration.
Having the whole family together would be great and having them together in a nice relaxing place like the Outer Banks would really be wonderful.

It’s been terribly dry here this summer. We have a couple of downpours here and there but then after a couple minutes the sun comes back out. Our grass has only been cut once since summer started. It’s hard to believe that after the winter we had that we would end up near drought status.
Take today, for instance, we had a downpour that lasted maybe 2 minutes then it was done. We could hear thunder off in the distance and found out that storms were “training” just to the south and east of us. Atlantic City got hammered with about 3 to 4 inches of rain. Hubby works in Atlantic City and he called to tell me that it was pouring so hard he couldn’t even see his truck in the parking lot.
What we need is a nice gentle all day rain… maybe even a few days of that. It’s been so hot and dry that the “grass” crunches under your feet.

I was just sitting here looking at my desk and it’s covered in all kinds of electronics. There is my broken desktop, laptop, camera, cell phone and my camcorder. I got the camcorder in February 2008 after reading several camcorder reviews and decided on the Flip Video. I’ve gotten a lot of use out it since I purchased it. I got a great deal on it too.
Cameras and video cameras have come a long way. I have old film cameras that my grandparents and uncle had. They were made in the early 1900′s. Just looking at those confuse me because I’m so used to the digital cameras they have now. The digital ones are much easier to use and you don’t have to worry about buying film or waiting to get the film developed to see your pictures.
I also have lots of old tintype photos that my grandparents had. I’m sure most are family but there are some I just don’t know who they are. I am slowly adding them to a new blog in hopes that someone will see them and recognize them as their ancestors and give me a name I can put to these old photos.

I’ve really been checking into starting my own business, of sorts, making beaded jewelry. I found good prices on jewelry making tools and beads on EBay. I sent for a catalog from another place that has reasonable prices online for beads.
I know it will take some practice but it really seems like something I want to do. If I get really good at it I’ll make my own website and have some promotional products printed up. I’ve been getting some great feedback from other people who make jewelry and they’ve had nothing but good to say about it.
